Ms. Mindy Paulo

Mindy Paulo is the PK-12 Director of English Language Education with the Public Schools of Brookline where she has worked since 2001. Under her leadership she has worked with educators on a variety of projects and initiatives including  the creation of grading guidelines for middle school English learners, a robust summer program for students in grades PK-8, an innovative framework for curriculum design, a comprehensive program review process, and a professional development academy. In this capacity, she has also served on numerous committees and councils to advance the mission and vision of the district. Ms. Paulo was selected as one of Brookline’s 2024 Women of the Year for her service to the community.

Ms. Paulo has served in several advisory roles for the Massachusetts Association of Teachers to Speakers of Other Languages, the Office of Language Acquisition at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the national Minority Student Achievement Network. Ms. Paulo has been an adjunct professor at the Boston University Wheelock College of Education and Human Development in the Department of Language and Literacy and has taught in the DEI Certificate Program at Emmanuel College. 

As the Co-Chief Empowerment officer of L&P Educational Services, Ms. Paulo has worked with various educators across the Commonwealth designing and facilitating professional learning opportunities, leading equity audits, coaching school and district leaders, and supporting student programming. She recently co-founded Building Bridges Education, a non-profit organization that employs comprehensive strategies, wraparound support, and high impact programs that bridge PreK-12 experiences with post secondary careers and education. Both organizations aim to dismantle the barriers to academic and economic advancement of minoritized communities through multi-faceted initiatives. 

Ms. Paulo is an avid volunteer in her community supporting myriad civic organizations and charitable foundations, and is currently a Doctoral Candidate for a degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at Boston University where her research focuses on self-reflection and transformation in the professional development of educators. She is the proud mother of two school-aged daughters who drive her passion for educational equity.
